San Antonio-based GlobalScape Inc. announced Thursday that its third-quarter profit more than doubled on a year-over-year basis.
The IT firm, which develops secure information exchange solutions, reported profits of $611,000, or 3 cents per diluted share. That's a 162 percent leap from the $233,000 it reported during the second quarter of 2010.
The results exceeded analysts' estimates, as polled by Bloomberg, who anticipated the company wouldn't post any earnings per share.
Revenues increased to $5.4 million, up 14 percent compared to the revenue of $4.8 million reported during the same quarter last year. Cash also grew to $13.4 million, a 32 percent increase compared to the same quarter last year and 21 percent from the end of 2010.
Shares of GlobalScape closed Thursday at $1.93, up 5.4 percent from the previous day's trading.

No explanation was given for the termination of the Milwaukee service, but Kowalchuk said passengers could make connections to Milwaukee through Denver, which is the lone remaining destination the airline serves from San Antonio.
